It depends on the size of your phone since they are pretty small might be the size on an american dollar coin.

If you put one regular sized one it should be able to stand up at an angle, haven’t tried it with the minis yet but I assume so, if you were to put it at the bottom one should do as long as your phone isn’t too heavy

I haven't been able to get it to stand vertically (short edge), only along the long edge.

No, I don’t think that would work, as the weight of the top of the phone would knock it over. I do not think there is a way to stick these on the phone to get the phone to stand vertically. Just horizontally.

It depends on what phone you have, the latest iphones are kind of heavy so i dont know if thats the case, but youre more than welcome to try!

No. They aren't long enougn. You wouldn't want them all the way on one edge anyway. There are however very cheap plastic easels that work with pop sockets.
