• It does hold a 5 gallon bottle. If you were using a 3 gallon im sure you could just cut the intake hose back to fit.

• Yes. I bought one and I use a 5 gallon on it. Very nice water dispenser ! Cold water is really cold, but didn't use the hot water option yet to comment.
