Kathy We are happy you are looking into purchasing our ProForm elliptical. Yes, the elliptical does have handles. You use them to mount the elliptical while stepping on the pedal in the lowest position. Then, step onto the other pedal. Push the pedals until they begin to move with a continuous motion. The pedals can turn in either direction. The arms will also move as you use the pedals, giving you both a lower body and upper body workout.
