“Does the protection plan cover damage to the charging cord due to a pet chewing on it? If so, can the cord be replaced directly from A Best Buy location or an Apple Store?”

Yes. Just bring the cord to a Best Buy Store and They will replace it.

No it does not cover the charging cable. It only covers the device that was purchased and it is attached to that serial number.

Unfortunately, it doesn’t. The coverage only works for manufacturing damage or product fail not human error.
