Metal and a cooling pad is highly advisable as there are those that say under heavy usage it get hot. While the definition of hot varies by person suffice it to say they become uncomfortable in your lap under heavy Rendering / Game playing? conditions. I have a similar heat problem with my Asus GL702 so I always have a cooling pad running. These are pretty powerful computers for laptops even though the manufacturer under volts these a pinch (per reviews) they still get hot . Not a lot of room in these thin laptops for fans big enough to keep them cool under heavy compute use - Look at the cooling fan or water cooling systems on desktops using these kind of CPU / GPU setup's !!!
