A:Answer Changing laptop monitors is a difficult prospect, it might work. This laptop is equal to a 7700k 1070 gtx overclocked desktop. So depends on the game u are playing. To get a minimum fps of 144hz at 1080, in modern games you need a 5ghz 8700k plus, with 3200mhz ram and min of a 2080. Even that is not enough for some games. I have a 9600k 5.3ghz water cooled, with a 150 core 800 memory 2080, and it is just enough to get heroes of the storm 1080p low settings to never dip below 144hz. More cpu and gpu intensive games like dayz dip below 144hz.
If your goal is to game at 144hz, a laptop is definitely not gonna cut it for you, either is anything ryzen. The higher the fps, and lower the resolution the faster you need the cpu single core to be. The difference between a ryzen and a 5.3ghz intel , remeber we are talking minimum and max fps not average can be upwards of 60fps difference. This laptop cpu is faster single core than a ryzen desktop cpu, but its not gonna cut it, because in order to use all 12 threads on load it underclocks it self to around 3.8 to 4.2.
There is no laptop in existence that can maintain the required 5ghz all core clock for 144hz gaming. Now if you don't care that it will dip to 60 fps and less some times it might work. If you want a smooth 144 fps minimum number you will need a water cooled desktop.
