• A:Answer You have to have a thunderbolt 3 port (USB C type connector). Thunderbolt 3 came out in 2015 so it's possible you have the connector. If your laptop is not equipped with Thunderbolt 3, this will not work.

• A:Answer No, your computer needs to have a USB-C thunderbolt certified port. An adapter will do nothing but change the type of connector, not the speed of the connection. A Thunderbolt 3 port has speeds of up to 40Gbps. USB is much slower even if you have a 3.1 port.

• A:Answer Hi, unfortunately a Thunderbolt 3 port is required for this to work. Thunderbolt 3 ports have access to the PCIe lanes in a computer which is what will transmit the GPU data. A non-Thunderbolt 3 USB 3.1 Port does not connect to the PCIe lanes in a computer.
