yes, you have to choose each source individually in order to make changes. Certain items like my sound bar, can still be set to Xbox because the sound bar was the source before clicking the Xbox. Had I clicked TV first then Xbox only, the remote would’ve attempted the change the TV volume. It seems to depend on the instance but I think you’ll find this to cover your needs fine.
