Can I give this 0 stars? I bought this for my parents who are elderly and technologically challenged. The guy in Best Buy recommended that it would be easy for them to use. Yes, it is a universal remote in the respect that it will control all your devices, however, you have to manually change the input for each device. If the last button you press was TV and you want to change the volume, you have to press the sound bar button first and then volume. Then if you want to change the channel, you have to press the TV button and then channel. My parents are never going to remember all of that. Spend the extra money and buy a Logitech Harmony. Not the cheap ones. I got the Smart Control one with the hub and it works awesome! Bought one for my parents and I have two of them. The cheaper Logitechs go through an annoying help menu asking if each device is on or off if something doesn’t work right. The ones with the hub do not.

This is supposedly programmed specifically for Samsung, but when pairing with my TV, which seemed straightforward, it did not map properly. I had no problem with needing to go button by button, and that seemed to work -- to a point. It does not appear to be possible to correctly map the "OK" button -- possibly the most important button on the remote. When the OK button is pressed, it pulls up the TV menu. No solution to this problem since the OK button cannot be corrected nor "unprogrammed" since it IS the button you push to end the programming step. We needed this remote because our puppy chewed the previous remote. We ended up ordering a true Samsung replacement which worked fine.

This remote is the 7th one I have purchased in the last 5 months. My new puppy thinks remotes are awesome toys to chew on and makes sure that the buttons I need are completely destroyed. This remote has now survived for 3 months, which is a new record for remotes at my house. It has been chewed 3 times, however, it is still operational even after I yelled at and beat the remote in front of the dog. (Supposedly a good technique for teaching a dog not to chew). This remote also does a good job at changing the channel and volume control, things I love about remotes.

It’s been a great remote for the whole set up in the living room. Easy to pair to each device, just follow the instructions, and try different codes for each on until you find the right code. It’s paired to a Zenith TV, Samsung sound bar, cable box, and LG blue ray player. Some of the functionalities don’t work with all devices, but so far we didn’t have to go back to an original remote for any of them. The backlight feature is pretty cool, but didn’t really have to use it! It’s also well built and designed!

Ok, our tv remote died... we needed one to run our tv for SLING and to use our Firestick to change input, etc. easily...so I ran up to Best Buy. Well, I didn't want to spend a lot, but I wanted something with backlit buttons so it was easier to use in the dark. And we wanted actual number buttons to use to select specific channels, instead of having to page up or down with buttons. This thing was less than $20 and by taking our time and following the directions word for word - no trouble. It's PERFECT! I would totally purchase again if needed.

This is a great way to consolidate multiple remotes. I also have an older version of this one. The main differences that I like on this newer version is the ability to program a soundbar (which was my main reason for the purchase as I had lost the remote for mine) and the updated look. It really looks very sharp and neat. I have this programmed to my DirecTV satellite, my Phillips TV, a Samsung DVD player and a Vizio soundbar. The only issue I had with it was not being able to program my Roku. One of the functions is specifically meant for this but I couldn't get it to work. That's not a big deal because I usually just use the app on my phone for controlling that. Overall a great purchase.

If you are looking for a back lit remote, this one isn't the greatest one. This has a few lights that are placed in terrible locations and doesn't light the buttons much at all. You have to push the back light button in order for it to even work. If you just hit a number or anything other then the back light button it doesn't light up. Setup wasn't too hard, it did take me a about 3 minutes to make sure everything was setup. If you are looking for a remote and don't want to speed couple hundred bucks, this is an option, but I wouldn't recommend to a friend. For myself, I'll be returning it and looking for a better back lit remote.

The review for my smart Blu-Ray player crapped out, so out I went to look for a replacement. I found this remote at my local Best Buy, and it seemed to fit the bill. Programming was easy, but my one complaint is that there is no eject button. I am using this for a Blu-Ray player but don't have an eject button. Major oversight in my mind. Also, the remote seems to have a very narrow transmission field as I have to have the remote pointing directly at the unit. Most remotes have a little wiggle room, but not this one. If you are looking for a cheap replacement remote, go for it, if you are looking for a full-featured universal remote, pay a little more and get something else (read: better).

...unless you paid more than $15 for this (I actually paid $5 after cashing in some RZ certs). This remote was purchased as a replacement for a lost Samsung Blu Ray player remote. Basic functions work fine, but some specific ones do not (slow/frame advance). Backlight LEDs were half "burned out". Looks like there are supposed to be 4 LEDs behind the main control/navigation pad, but only 2 of them light up. Only reason I would have returned this is because of the LEDs, but I don't use it enough in the dark to make it worth my time waiting in Cust. Serv. line, so w/evs. Other than that, everything works as advertised. For $5, average remote (3 stars).

Bought a cheaper and smaller remote before...and while it did handle the major functions. The issue we really had was the ability to access the menu controls and the input selections. This handled things quite well and we can use it to attach other devices. A must for my wife, who, while technically capable, doesn't want to deal with a bunch of different remotes. My only down-tick is that the remote does appear to be cheap and not overly sturdy. That is an appearance though and it mainly because there is no weight to the thing. It is extremely light...which is not a bad thing..but it doesn't give you a sense of it's quality when you hold it...

My Apple TV remote (Black Version) just one day stopped working. Apple wanted $60 to buy a new remote! Purchased the RCA on sale for $10 and it works great! Also it auto programed itself to control my TV without have to enter any codes. To get this remote to work with an Apple TV follow these very easy to use directions from Apple : 1) Open Settings Settings on your Apple TV. 2) Go to Remotes and Devices > Learn Remote, then follow the onscreen instructions.

I purchased this remote because we started a new streaming cable service through our local ISP using our Roku player, and I wanted to be able to go to channels by punching in the number. Unfortunately, I'm not able to, but that's got nothing to do with the remote itself. I do enjoy being able to control all my devices through the one remote, however, it is a little laggy, and does have to be pointed directly at the Roku (the Roku remote does not have to be, and is a little faster), dvd player, tv, etc. All in all, it was really simple to connect to everything and does what it's supposed to.

not for VIZIO S4251w-B4 or Samsung BD-H6500

Vizio smart TV s4251w-b4 will not activate the Vizio button which prevent access to all the applications. This is a basic operation for a smart TV. Will not activate a eject button for a Samsung BD-H6500 which is another basic operation. the buttons are small and difficult to handle. Customer service said they are not guaranteed to work every function. It will turn my devices on and off but I don't think that is sufficient to advertise a brand in the advertisement. Thanks to Best Buy return policy I returned it. I will avoid RCA products.

I have a ViZiO M60-C3, Samsung BH-H650, xfinity cable, I was not able to find a Vizio smart button to access the application. In all fairness I was able to contact support, but I did not give them a chance to help me. As I remember It did access the TV menu which should give access to the application. That was my fault. I could not find a button to eject for the Samsung. I agree with others that the buttons are too small for me. Thanks to BestBy return policy I was able to return it. I am happy with my Interest 422-3 which has Vizio smart button and eject that works.

Ya know when your TV's remote dies a painful death and with how smart your TV is now you have to have a remote that also is kind of smart well I found this one that didn't break the bank! Has all the needed buttons to navigate through apps and setups when the last one I bought would not let me change letters from capital to small without having that "blue" button my TV kept yelling at me to use. Great price easy to use works with all major brands if the first code for your brand doesn't do the trick try the others eventually it should.

I have two older systems, 5 disc DVD/CD changer, and a DVR/DVD/VHS player. The remotes are unable to preform certain tasks needed on both systems. I am unable to skip discs, go to a disc menu, or change the digital sound functions on the 5 disc changer. On the DVR player I am unable to go to the menu, access items separately on the dvr, unable to switch between hard drive, tv, dvd, vhs. Everything I am unable to do with this remote, I have to do manually, that's if I can do it without a remote, on the DVR I cannot do many things without a remote! Better then nothing I guess...

Bought this remote because my dog chewed up my last one and needed something to control a few items. I have this remote controlling a Samsung tv, Sony receiver and Apple TV. Works well with all except for the Apple TV. Took a bit of manipulating to get it to work. Once I got the remote to work, the select button wasn't working so I had to mix and match the programming, through the "program a remote" on the apple tv interface, for that button to finally kinda work. I have to basically press the "select" button twice for it to go. Overall it gets the job done.

I wanted to give it a 5 because it does everything I need it to do for all of my devices. Even the detailed stuff like menus and option buttons. Nicely priced also. The glaring weakness is the buttons are to close together and aren’t properly cushioned for normal button pushing. It feel as if I need new batteries. So that can be a little frustrating but if you have had trouble finding a remote that does EVERY function for EVERY device then I highly recommend it unless you can find one tha does the same but doesn’t feel slightly cheap.

I have a new Samsung tv with a LG sound bar and Directv. This remote recognizes all three devices. Programming was easy with the auto code search. With this feature, I didn't even have to look up any codes for my devices. And, most of the Directv functions can be accessed with this remote. The only button missing is a button to access to my recorded programs. But, I just have to use the main menu button to access my recordings. For the price, you can't beat this universal remote! It's so nice to have only one remote for all my devices!

If you're looking for a user-friendly remote that can control streaming devices, cable/satellite boxes, tvs, etc., this one will fit the bill. However, if, like me, you are looking for a remote with a good backlight, I'd look elsewhere. When I pulled mine out of the package, the backlight was mediocre at best and only lit up about 1/4 of the buttons. For the price, this is a great option, but if you can splurge on an upgrade and are up in the air about it, do it.
