• Take out the water bucket and set aside. There is a tab on the filter centered on the device and inside and above the opening. Pull down and the filter will come out. Yes it is washable, warm soapy water and rinse and dry before putting it back in. Be carefull to align filter in the track and push upwards. It is made in China. I've had mine about a month now and am getting about one bucket full of water a day out of my basement . It is running fine now but will china stuff last more than a year?

• Yes the filter can be cleaned. You need to remove the bucket to reach the filter not difficult but not as easy as some dehumidifiers. It is made in China.
