No need to disconnect cable, you may need to check the internal settings on yout tv. My firestix device works fine. Our local TV transmitter is approximately 30 miles away, this receives local channels fine. Not sure about Netflix...

Here are some answers that should help: 1) - Do you need to disconnect the cable TV to use this type of antenna? You don’t necessarily need to disconnect your cable TV to use an RCA TV antenna. If your cable TV currently uses the coaxial connector on your TV, you can check if both your TV and cable box have an alternative connection port, such as HDMI. This allows you to connect the antenna using the coaxial port while your cable box uses HDMI. Alternatively, you can use an A/B switcher to easily switch between the antenna and your cable connection. 2) - How does this compare to the Firestick? The RCA TV antenna and Firestick serve different purposes. RCA antennas are designed to receive over-the-air TV signals for watching local channels, while Firestik antennas are intended for connecting to programs over the internet. 3) - Is it best to get the antenna that has the longest range? The best range for an antenna depends on your specific needs and location. If you are far from broadcast towers or live in a rural area, a longer-range antenna might be beneficial. However, if you live in an urban or suburban area closer to the towers, a shorter-range antenna could be sufficient. Consider your proximity to broadcast towers, potential obstructions, and the channels you want to access when choosing an antenna. 4) - Will Netflix still work with this antenna? Yes, Netflix will continue to work as long as you have an internet connection and a compatible streaming device or smart TV. The RCA antenna is used to receive free over-the-air TV channels and does not interfere with your internet-based streaming services. You can easily switch between watching local channels with your antenna and streaming Netflix content. If you have any other questions or need further assistance, feel free to reach out!
