• depends on the channels available in your area...if you get the antenna at BestBuy and it does not work out for you they will accept the return of undamaged product with a receipt.

• I would not count on this product doing much better for you from a basement. Unfortunately, the only way to know for sure is to buy it and try it.

• I had better luck with RCA rabbit ears I had 5 yrs ago. I chose this one so I wouldn't poke out an eye driving down road in a rv/truck.

• Hard to say for sure. It just depends on interference it gets from the tower to your house. It's a quick hookup and channel scan to see. If you don't get more channels you can always just take the antenna back.

• I had to put mine at the top of a window, 10ft ish. Underground? I don't think it will be better, but maybe no worse.

• How many channels you get with this antenna probably depends on where you are located in conjunction with the broadcasting stations in your area. I can get good picture & sound quality for about 31 channels including CBS, NBC. PHL, FOX, MIND, CW, ION, QVC, HSN, Univision, GET-TV, WHYY and a few extra miscellaneous channels that are local. Not sure what kind of reception you would get in a basement as I don't have one to test it out. Don't get ABC which is a bit annoying but there may be a way around that -- just haven't figured it out yet (maybe an indoor antenna booster?).
