• The foam inserts are to fit the smaller Switch LCD and Switch OLED consoles.

• The case comes with two (2) U-shaped foam pieces that rest along the left and right sides of the inside space and make it such that a Switch 1 will fit in the case without sliding.

• "Foam inserts with 3M Adhesive for use with Nintendo Switch OLED or Nintendo Switch." Because the Switch 2 is significantly larger than Switch 1, the foam inserts are needed to keep the original Switch snug. They are not needed with Switch 2.
