The Square Register must be plugged into a power outlet at all times to function. It also requires an active internet connection, which can be provided through a traditional Wi-Fi network, a portable Wi-Fi device (often called a Mi-Fi), or an Ethernet cable. If your internet connection is interrupted, you can temporarily accept offline payments and upload them once a stable connection is restored.
