I don't know if it has a battery, but it does have protection to prevent the battery from draining. If the voltage drops below 11.5V, the camera turns off completely.

Please try again later.It doesn't appear to have a battery or capacitor from what I can tell, I could be wrong, but to answer your question about draining the battery, you can set the Low voltage threshold to meet your needs. The settings are 0.0V, 11.25V, 11.5V, 11.75V or 12.0V and it will provide a read out of your current voltage.
