“Does the motion sensor only pick up outside motion in the front? What about the back? If the vehicle is bumped ,or moved enough by outside sources, does this act as motion?”

Yes, outside motions but not just front, motion sensor works on all sides i.e. back, doors and corners. I verifed myself, if something comes less than 1 ft near to any side/back/corner it catches and starts recording in all cameras.
