• No, unless the device is hardwired. Then you can use the parking mode feature for extra protection.

• If you have an always on plug that this device is plugged in to in your vehicle, than yes. I would also mention that, if you have not purchased it, also get the GPS logger. This can pair with the V1 Basic and record a lot of data to go along with the footage. Also, since the device can support 256 GB of Micro SD storage, I would mention to also get one as well as that will allow over 12 hours of continuous recording on the card. So if you want it to record overnight, than these would be the best options for this DashCam
