Hello MOMofsneakyteen, Great question! The Contact Sensor notifications and modes can be fully customizable through the Ring app. So you could choose which sensors and which don't trigger the alarm. Here is a helpful article with more detailed product information: https://support.ring.com/hc/en-us/articles/360039497552-Ring-Alarm-Contact-Sensor-Setup-and-Use. We invite you to reach out at https://community.ring.com/ if any additional information is needed regarding your Ring pre-purchase question. Ring Community is our first peer-to-peer community forum, giving our customers the ability to help one another and share their feedback and experiences with Ring. Thank you, Alexis with Ring
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. As long as the contact sensors are in the right place and the alarm is set to home mode or away mode, the alarm will sound (very loudly) If any of the windows or doors are opened or they try to remove the sensors. There is a chime that sounds if the alarm isn’t set that will alert you if any doors or windows are open as well. We actually bought this system for the same reason. So far it has kept our teen in the house.
