Thank you for reaching out to us regarding your Ring Keypad question. Yes, all Ring Alarm devices are compatible with each other, so a 2nd Gen Keypad will work with your current Ring Alarm system. If the charger port broken, we first recommend reaching out to Ring support for a possible warranty replacement. All of our devices come with a limited 1-year warranty! If you have any additional questions, please feel free to reach out through our Ring Community peer-to-peer forum: https://community.ring.com/. Thank you, Jamila with Ring
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. If you have it mounted to the wall, you will need to change the bracket and drill new holes when changing from gen1 to gen2. Gen2 isnt as wide as gen1. The USB type is still the same. As a side note regarding why you think the charging port is broken, be sure to open the app and verify the battery status. I recently changed from gen1 to gen2 because I thought the keypad battery was no longer charging. After installing gen2 however, i discovered that my gen1 keypad updated the firmware without my knowledge and it changed the LED behavior on the keypad itself so that the LEDs were always off. That's why I recommend verifying the charge status and battery life in the app. Not sure that's the case with yours but thought it may be worth mentioning.
