The microphone for the Ring Battery Doorbell is only activated when there is a motion detection, someone rings the doorbell, or a live view is initiated. You can disable audio on your Ring device to prevent sound from being streamed or recorded in events. To turn Audio Streaming and Recording on or off, follow these steps in the ring app: Note: To turn Audio Streaming and Recording on and off, you must have a compatible Ring Home Plan subscription. Open the Ring app to the main dashboard. Tap the menu (☰). Tap your device's Settings. Tap the Device Settings tile. Select Privacy Settings. Tap the Audio Streaming and Recording toggle to turn it on or off. Note: If you need to speak to a visitor during a Live View, tap Activate Once on a compatible Ring device to enable Two-Way Talk. When you end the session, Audio Streaming and Recording will remain off. If any additional information is needed regarding your question, please reach out to our community. Ring Community is our first peer-to-peer community forum, giving our customers the ability to help one another and share their feedback and experiences directly with Ring.
