No, Ring devices do not have an external storage option, such as a SIM card. We provide you the option of video storage for the recorded doorbell events so that you may revisit these videos for 60 days (in the US). The optional Ring Protect Plan is only meant to store the video recordings to the cloud, but does not impact the functionality of your Ring Doorbell 2 device. You should still be able to view live videos and answer doorbell ding notifications as they occur in real-time.
