“Will this light at least work independently without attaching it to a Ring system ? My customer does not use Ring for their other security stuff.”

Hello ejuice99, Great question. You do not need any other Ring items to use the Ring Steplight but we recommend purchasing a Ring Bridge to use the Smart Features.
