“It says that the RIng camera is easy to remove and place elsewhere, but does that also make it easy for a would-be thief or trespasser to remove it? Are there permanent mounting options?”

Nothing is truly permanent if I bring a power drill and bits I got anything you hang up. But with the stickup cam you also have video of me doing it. Plus check rings website they have a replacement policy if your ring device is stolen.

I think the purpose of this device is to hang it high so it can't be touched and yes that makes it pointless if you have to recharge the batteries. Also the speaker doesn't project that well so they won't be able to hear you if they're not right in front of it or there's too much background noise.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.The stick up cam is shipped with screws and can be used to secure the camera to a fixed object. Ring will also replace your camera if it is stolen as part of their warranty. If you place it high enough you should not have any issues.
