- Answer Depends on what you want it for? We use it because we don't have a peephole with this rented house. However, it's better than the original version, and with the standard settings it'll outlast the ring video battery.

QuestionWill it work with my existing door bell chime in my home if I hard wire the "Ring" to my existing doorbell button?

- Answer It should. The kit comes with a resistor that you need to use if your existing doorbell has a digital chime. The old fashioned "ding-dong" mechanical bells don't require the resistor installed at the doorbell. There is a range for the voltage that the Ring doorbell requires, I think it is 16-24 volts, the information should be on the ring.com website. All doorbells have transformers (either mounted separately or in the chime box) that step down household 120v to the range your present doorbell works within.

QuestionWe rec’d a Ring Viideo Doorbell for Christmas. It’s hooked up to electricity, but is showing that our battery is critically low. Also, if you look in Settings under Power Source, it says battery. Does anyone know what’s going on?

- Answer Go into your settings and click on 'battery' and make sure it says 'hardwired'. If not, take it apart and check your connections and it they look good, do a voltage check on the wires to make sure you're getting power to the device. I know this may sound too simple, but also made sure your old doorbell power supply didn't get unplugged when you installed the Ring doorbell. I hope this helps. If all that checks out ok, you may have a defective device or battery.

QuestionMy question: after my 30 day trial, will my Ring still record a 20-30 sec. motion event as it does now or will I have to buy a subscription? Will these events still keep for approx. a week w/o a subscription?

QuestionMy Ring doorbell would not stay on the base, even though the surface was flat. When pushed it would fall off...now it is broken. Any suggestions? I do want to replace it but do not want the same problem.

- Answer There should be two screws holding the ring to the base and the base is screwed into the wood door frame.
