Asked by Angel.
- A:Answer Hi Angel, The difference between the Ring Video Doorbell 3 and the 3 Plus is that the Ring Video Doorbell 3 Plus has a new feature called Pre-roll where you get an 4 extra seconds of black and white video to show you what happened before motion was triggered. This article will answer many of the commonly asked questions regarding the new Pre-Roll feature: https://support.ring.com/hc/en-us/articles/360038650731-Understanding-the-Pre-Roll-Feature. Q: QuestionMy home is 10 years old with an existing regular doorbell. How do I know if I can use the existing wires for the 3 Plus ? Also, how far apart are the mounting holes.
Asked by Mick.
- A:Answer It should. I upgraded from a ring 2 to the 3 plus and it works seamlessly. Can’t tell you how far apart the mounting holes are but they are definitely wider than a standard doorbell. I believe you can find more info from ring.com

Q: QuestionIf the 3+ is hardwired to the existing wires, does it use your existing doorbell chime?
Asked by KT.
- A:Answer The 3+ I believe can go either way but I'm using it wirelessly via my home network. They do have 1 of the 3s that must be hard wired. My wired doorbell electricity is messed up so that's why I used internet.

Q: QuestionWhat’s the plus?
Asked by Tati.
- A:Answer Hi Tati, The Ring Video Doorbell 3 Plus includes enhanced features such as adjustable motion zones - including the added near zone that reduces false motion alerts - and dual-band (2.4 and 5.0 Ghz) wifi connectivity. And with extended 4-second Pre-roll that lets you see what happened before motion was triggered, you'll always know who's at your door. Best, RingTeam

Q: Questionwhat is the difference between Ring - Video Doorbell 3 Plus and Ring - Video Doorbell 2 Pro
Asked by leo.
- A:Answer Hi, Our new video doorbell has all the great features of its predecessor, the Ring Video Doorbell 2 and then some. It can be powered by the removable, rechargeable battery, or hardwired via traditional doorbell wiring. RVD 3 is the first battery-powered device to come with dual-band WiFi, and features 1080P HD video with color night vision and two-way talk with echo cancellation. RVD 3 also includes two all-new features, Foresight, which enables users to capture complete motion events with their Ring RVD 3 and record 4 seconds before motion is triggered, and a newly added "Near Zone" for more relevant motion detection closer to your front door. Q: QuestionWhat is the quality of the motion sensor zones, particularly false triggers where zones are off. Had Ring 1 and Ring 2 that picked up moving cars at 20ft from door, but didn't pick up people approaching door within 5 feet. Zones were set properly.
Asked by RandyPortland.
- A:Answer I have had no such problems with my Ring Doorbell 3. The quality is far better than the Ring Doorbell 2 that I had. I especially like the fact that it changes from black and white to color when the activity is directly in front of the doorbell camera.
