It was one of the better units for night vision over the nest. With mine i am able to make out faces no problem
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.If the person is 4 foot or closer to the ring doorbell you can. I just checked mine from last night when a neighbor came by. I could recognize him walking up the stairs from 6 foot away to when he rang the doorbell (1-2 foot away). This is without a porch light on. When the porch light was turned on, it was about the same. The video/image is in black and white since it's infrared when it's dark. You need alot of light to switch over to a color image. If the subject is moving fast then it's less visible and you will see some blur. this is the case with many security products and low light. at 1080 resolution its pretty good. The fact that the person is close to the door bell means you get a better image. If you installed a security camera, although they can be higher resolution, they are further away from the person (high up under an eve) so you don't have a high of an image quality.
