After that, it is $3/mo, or $30/yr, if you pay all at once. You don't have to buy the plan, the unit works fine without it, IF, that person stays at your door long enough for you to answer it and talk to them. It will not store any videos, and you can't look at the days activity etc, without the cloud storing it. After using it for a couple of weeks, I can say the cloud storage is very handy to see who went by, or walked up the steps. Without it, I would have nothing but some random notifications. I'm going to buy it for a year $30, but if it costs anymore, I'll drop the extra service. If anything, with more users, would hope it would go down in price. $10/yr would be ideal.
