“I am purchasing this as a gift for someone who lives in a rental house and would need to be uninstalled once they leave. Can this be uninstalled once installed or is installation permanent? Thanks.”

This is easily installed through wiring. And you can definitely uninstall it when you move out.

One would have thought they would have designed this with the mounting holes in the same position as a normal door bell but nope. You'd need something to cover the holes this leaves behind when removing it.

Which can be removed if you want to take it with you. Then just two wires disconnect from the old doorbell to the new ring doorbell. Also make sure when the old doorbell is removed it is kept in case you need to install the old one again. Installation of this doorbell takes no longer then 15 mins to install or remove.
