not sure what you mean by using data - it is connected via your wifi, I don't think it would be capped, (but maybe different if you are on satellite service?). If you are viewing from your phone, then you would use data anytime you viewed a specific event, or if you choose live view. but you don't normally have that constantly on. just use the app when you wish. If motion is detected, you will still recieve an alert on your phone, without the app being on - and then you can check it by opening the app and looking at the recorded event, (at which time you would be using data - but the event recordings are for a minute or less). Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.If you are limited on data yes can use data. However if you have settings set to record only it will only use data when motion triggered and bell rung. Or if you are currently doing a live feed.
