Hello Angelo, Ring Video Doorbell(2020) is powered by a built-in rechargeable battery. When the Video Doorbell(2020) is hardwired it does not actually use the wired power to run its operations. The trickle charge the Ring Video Doorbell(2020) gets from being hardwired is solely used to charge the battery. The Ring Video Doorbell (2020 release) is the next generation of the original Ring Video Doorbell. In addition to new video features such as Near Zone functionality, the 2020 release Video Doorbell boasts 1080p video, improved night vision, improved audio quality and near motion zone detection. Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. No it does not have to be wired, but I like setting them up wired.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. This can be wired or wireless. To install wireless you have to charge it up with the USB connector that's provided. FYI if you choose to install wireless make sure you purchase the ring solar charger to keep it charge so you don't have to remove the doorbell to keep charging it with the USB.
