Yes, that’s exactly what I did. I wasn’t comfortable with it on the door. I mounted it on the very back. It’s basically hidden and fully protected from the weather as it would be exposed to the weather upon opening the door. It works perfectly and activates every time upon opening the door. It senses the motion of the door opening.

The antenna goes on the outside, and its cable needs to run inside to the sensor. To avoid damaging the cable, there must be a hole or gap for the cable to run through. If your mailbox doesn't have one, make your own using the included drillbit.
