Yes, it works as a doorbell if the voltage of your doorbell is 24 volt ac. Some doorbells use 12 volt DC. This will not work. Get the Ring chime if you have the wrong voltage or no current doorbell installed. You can charge your doorbell every few months. The app will let you know when it needs to be charged.
