• Yes but not for the game itself. You can play the game against computer AI i believe but The game is an online multiplayer game mainly and you have to have an nintendo online membership to play any online games with other players. It might be saying it because its needing to have live gold to be able to download the online content as well. if you decide to get it its honestly really cheap for nintendo. cheaper than xbox live gold

• You have to have a subscription to play online. You can play local games, a season, or practice without a subscription. That's a Nintendo thing. Not a Rocket League thing.
