“I have a new Vizio 4k tv. I have directv and an old Toshiba dvd vcr combo recorder. I was able to use a splitter with my old tv to use the dvd vcr but now I don't have a way to hook up my coaxial to the new tv. I tried the HDMI cable. What now?”

In my experience with similar problems, the only way I found was to feed the cable to the TV or VCR directly and split all other signals. No HDMI splitter I tried would transmit the Brighhouse or Frontier cable signals. Most likely a proprietary protection of some type.
