“Will this protect the HDMI port on the tv from a strike or just the TV itself? I have already had an issue where my tv took a lightning strike through the hdmi cable itself”

It only provides protections to electrical items plugged into it. Protected from surge.

This will only protect the components plugged in (via electrical outlet/connection) from a surge/spike. The HDMI cable itself does not plug into the surge protector. I would think it would be protected as long as all components are plugged in to the power strip though as the "protected" components would then be connected to each other via the HDMI cables.

No protection for HDMI. It is surge protector for 110v and two USB ports for charging phones and other items.

No. The HDMI Cable does not plug into the surge protector.
