• No, but it is not recommended to be used in a non grounded outlet. Doing so could potentially void the manufacturer warranty and connected equipment guarantee.

• It doesn't have an alarm, but it does indicate visually if there is an ungrounded circuit.

• Boy it better.........that is a big part of Surge Protection. The alarm you speak of would be an Amber or Red Light. No audible.
