A basement might be difficult. If there is a window down there it might work. Also, if you could run a cable attached to the antenna from another part of the house it might work. You may need a booster to make it work if the cable is really long (50 plus feet). A booster will do nothing about finding a signal. It takes a found signal and helps it run down the line of a long cable run, if that makes sense.
