Nope. Games digitally owned across most store fronts can be directly installed to the device for on the go gaming. Xbox however the game must be labeled “Xbox Play Anywhere” to be able to install directly on the go. Otherwise you can use Remote Play or Cloud Gaming

You can download all gamepass games as well as steam, GOG, etc etc. You can also do the cloud if you'd want to. Its a full pc console

Games on the ASUS ROG Ally X can be played remotely using Xbox Cloud Gaming or Xbox Remote Play, so you do not need to be near your Xbox console. A stable internet connection is required.
