This is a free product to use. Just purchase, set up, and you're off and running. The apps, such as Netflix, Amazon, etc..., will have their monthly charge, of course. But Roku is free to operate. It's a great product!

No , there is no activation fee for Roku. You sign up subscribe for whatever app you want to subscribe like Netflix, sling tv, Hulu etc and pay them monthly directly.

They require a Roku account if you don't have one, but no
fees are required. Only fees are for Netflix, Hulu, etc. if you want
to watch those.
