For example, if your cable subscription includes the USA network....as long as you are still a Comcast subscriber, you can stream USA for free on the Roku platform. But cancel the cable, and your rights to stream many channels will disappear until you re-subscribe through other approaches.
Roku does have some local content available, but the most reliable source for local channels would be to connect an inexpensive HDTV antenna to each television.
