• in theory if you choose a separate audio output however if you're wanting to use the device without the sound capabilities, recommend buying a Roku stream device that does not come equipped with speakers

• Hi, Bort! The Roku Streambar will need to be activated during initial setup, connected to your network and powered on in order to stream channels. If you want to use your Roku Streambar without using its built-in audio you can always mute the Streambar using the mute button on the included voice remote.
