You have to surf. But most apps have a "favorite" so you can place channels there. And many of the apps have a channel menu, too. There just isn't one menu that covers all of the apps. Right now I have 288 apps downloaded that I can surf for programming. I've never actually done that. I have found my favorites to be the Pluto app; YouTube and a few more is where I'm watching 99% of my programming.

With streaming devices you do have your apps like Netflix, Hulu, HBO MAX, and Disney+ where you pick the movie or TV show you'd like to watch. You can watch Live TV with the Roku Channel. When you view a live streaming TV channel from The Roku Channel such as ABC News Live or Lively Place, you can easily browse an electronic program guide (EPG) called Live TV Channel Guide to help you find other live streaming programs to watch today and in the coming weeks. You can also view the same live streaming TV channels and browse Live TV Channel Guide from the Live TV input on your Roku TV. Here is a link that goes more in depth in Roku's Live TV. https://support.roku.com/article/115012658287 If you pay for Sling it does have a Channel Menu!
