• No, that's not how the Roku works. Think of the Roku as a "DVD" player or "Set top Box". It's intended to show content on a TV. Your laptop HDMI is an output.. not an input. Besides that.. there's nothing the Roku can do that you can't already do with your laptop using other software.

• You do not need Roku on a computer. Roku requires a WiFi connection and if you have a laptop with WiFi you can access any app the Roku would have.
