The Roku stick will only work for you if the German TV programs you watch have a streaming service online. Even though you are able to watch the shows online - it does not mean that Roku stick will have the channel or the app. The Roku stick does have some live TV now channels, but many of them are not your daily channels or programming. If you go to https://channelstore.roku.com/browses - you will be able to see every channel with a description that the Roku service offers. I would recommend checking for what you are looking for before buying. Also, please be sure that you have a high bandwidth service for again, Roku is all streaming and uses your wifi service. If you do not have enough bandwidth - the channels will be choppy with alot of lag.

All current Roku devices also support AirPlay, allowing you to mirror content from your iPads to your Roku device. For additional information on German content on Roku take a look at the Roku Blog post linked here: https://www.roku.com/blog/germany-launch
