Seems like you want local channels from the Roku Stick to supplement your Dish service. What you need is an antenna to get reception of local channels. If that is not possible, you can connect the Roku directly to your tv to get local channels with a paid service like Youtube TV, DirectTV Now, Hulu, Playstation VUE, etc. You will also need an internet connection with WiFi.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. We connected this stick to our tvs that are connected to a dish satellite. You hook it into the HDMI port on the back of your tv. In the input section of your TV you will access the ROKU. The ROKU stick requires a HDMI port and a power connection. You are not connected to the DISH box just the ROKU stick. I'm not sure how far away you can get from it. I use mine pretty close to the stick, maybe 6 feet away and it works great. The ROKU works off of your internet so you need wireless internet for it to work. It is amazing the number of channels it has. You could definitely cut the cord if you subscribed to all the pay channels like Netflix, Hulu etc.......
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. It has to maintain WiFi connection, so whatever your capabilities is with that. It plugs in directly to the TV, so it can be used in conjunction with satellite but on a different input. It is it’s own operating device separate and independent from other devices. Hope this helps.
