No you don’t have to - u can connect the Roku adapter Into an open HDMI port on the tv and connect the supplied usb power cable from it to an open USB port on the tv, and the remote itself uses batteries. There is a supplied wall outlet adapter that be used as an alternative if u don’t have an open USB port on the tv or if the USB port is not supplying enough power to the Roku adapter.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.It can plug into an electrical outlet or it can plug into a USB port on your TV. I have a 32 in VISIO that is a few years old and it works just fine with the Roku stick being plugged into the USB port, plenty of power for it to run perfectly.
