• The remote has a headphone jack so you can listen without disturbing others. The remote is rechargeable with micro usb cable

• Hello Chip, The remote is rechargeable and does not need batteries. The headphone jack on the remote is to plug in headphones to either have the audio come out of the headphones instead of the TV in case a loved one is asleep and you want to keep watching Tv and not bother them with the audio or have audio come out of both the headphones and the TV for those who are hard of hearing and would rather have headphones.
