Yes the Roku ultra support Dolby Digital and DTS. The catch is the source you are streaming from must also support it within the stream. If you are plugging the Roku directly into the TV and from the TV out to the Onkyo that is likely why you are not getting Dolby Digital. Most televisions down sample to stereo via DTS or Dolby. You might want to check your settings on your television if this is how you have it setup. If you have it going directly into your receiver make sure the sound settings on your Roku are set to either Auto (selects audio stream for you) or Dolby Digital.

You can also hook the optical from your sound system into the tv via optical so that no matter what input your tv is on it always plays audio through the same sound system input. NO MORE having to hit 1000 buttons whenever you switch devices! just hit input on the tv!
