In general the hose should be connected to a window plate and rain should not enter the hose. But we suggest to cover the outlet with a mash/grid to prevent small animals to enter. Back to the rain, you should observe what direction the rain hits your house in general. Is the hose opening directly exposed to the direction where the rain hit and not covered by a roof or overhang it is possible that rain water can enter your hose.
