Does this need FAA certification? null

Nothing in paperwork suggests that you do. It is not very big.

I bought this as a gift for someone else, but from my understanding, this is lighter than the FAA requirement of .55 pounds to 55 pounds....as long as other items aren't added to the factory base weight. So no registration would be needed at this time, unless you try to use it for commercial needs.
